A. to TIT by limousine bus:

1) After passing through Quarantine and Immigration Counters, reach down the baggage claim and custom inspection floor, and claim your checked baggage from the belt-conveyer;

2) After loading the claimed baggage and other hand-carry baggage on a hard-cart free of charge (this hand-cart can be used up to the limousine bus departure point), proceed to the arrival lounge (lobby) via custom inspection counter;

3) Find the Limousine bus counter where you can buy tickets worth JPY2,700. the bus departure point is just outside the door beside the counter. You won't miss it because it has a large sign board.

4) After about an hour ride, you will be dropped off at the Hakozaki, the first bus stop. This stop is located first floor of TCAT (Tokyo City Airport Terminal) building. Collect your baggage and proceed to the 3rd floor where the train station Suitengumae is located.

5.) Take the Hanzomon Line bound for Futako-tamagawa/Nagatsuta/Chuo-Rinkan

5.1  Going to Ookayama: get off at Otemachi station, transfer to the Mita Line, and take the train bound for Musashi-Kosugi, get off at Ookayama station.

5.2  Going to Suzukakedai: Take the Hanzomon/Den-entoshi Line bound for Futako/Tamagawa/Chuo-Rinkan, and get off at Suzukakedai station. Note that if you took the express train (called "kyouku", written in red), you need to get off at Nagatsuta station to transfer to a local train (called) that stops in Suzukakedai. 

If you are billeted at the TokyoTech International House, it is less likely that you will be asked to go directly to Suzukakedai.

B. to TIT by train

1. Go down to the lower level of both Narita Terminal 1 or Terminal 2. There, you will find the stations for Japan Railways Narita Express (NEX) or the Keisei Skyliner and Keisei Limited Express;

a. JR NEX to Tokyo/Shinjuku and Yokohama departs every 30 minutes. Travel time is 60 minutes. Cost one way to Tokyo is JPY1,890.

b. Keisei Skyliner Express train to Ueno Station (central Tokyo) departs about every 30 minutes. Travel time is 50 minutes. Cost one way to Ueno Station is JPY1,920.

c. Keisei Limited Express, with a few stops between Narita and Ueno in 72 minutes, Cost: JPY1000. This is the least expensive means of transport between Narita and downtown Tokyo.

If you take the JR NEX, it is best to get off at Tokyo or Shinjuku Station depending on your destination. If you take the Keisei Skyliner or Limited Express, get off at Nippori station.

Going to Ookayama: At Tokyo or Nippori Station, transfer to the JR Yamanote Line (coaches are green-striped) bound for Shinagawa/Shibuya and get off at Meguro Station. Transfer to the Meguro Line (train coaches are blue-red or green-striped) bound for Musashi-Kosugi and get off at Ookayama station.

Going to Sukakedai: At Shinjuku or Nippori Station, transfer to the JR Yamanote Line (coaches are green-striped) bound for Shinagawa/Tokyo (if you came from Shinjuku) or Shinagawa/Shibuya (if you came by Nippori) get off at Shibuya Station. Take the Hanzomon/Den-entoshi Line bound for Futako/Tamagawa/Chuo-Rinkan, and get off at Suzukakedai station. Note that if you took the express train (called "kyouku", written in red), you need to get off at Nagatsuta station to transfer to a local train (called) that stops in Suzukakedai.

For those seeking opportunities graduate studies, like any other university here in Japan, it is important to first look for an academic adviser/supervisor who can accept you in his/her laboratory. A written acceptance letter is also required if you are applying for a scholarship (read information on scholarships from below). Graduate programs usually commence in April or October, so if you are applying it's a good idea to plan at least one year ahead.

If you enter TokyoTech, you may either be classified as an international student or as a normal graduate student.

a. International Graduate Program. International students skip entrance examinations and may not  be required to study intensive Japanese language since their graduate programs are presumably "international" in scope and therefore, course work/classes are taught in English.

b. Normal Graduate Program. On the other hand, an ordinary graduate student may enter TokyoTech with a research student (kenkyusei) status. During this phase, which varies from half a year to two years, the student undergoes a four-month Japanese Intensive Course. The academic supervisor decides when the student can take the entrance examinations. The rules for admission (e.g. level of Japanese proficiency) required to pass the entrance examinations varies from one department to another, if none at all.

Doctoral Programs in TokyoTech do not require coursework, PhD students are instead expected to concentrate on their research.
